The Occupational Health and Safety Act obliges employers to provide basic occupational health services for their employees, i.e. they are obliged to provide occupational health services, including fitness-for-work examinations.

The basic occupational health service is responsible for maintaining and improving the health of workers at work, in close cooperation with occupational safety (occupational health). Workers spend a large part of their lives at work, where they may be exposed to a variety of hazards arising from the working environment (e.g. vibration, noise, chemicals, stress, bacterial and viral pathogens, etc.).
